YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN THE VENTURA NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH NETWORK

WHAT IS A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH?

o Organized and trained volunteer citizens

o The extra eyes and ears of the Orlando Police Department (OPD)

o It’s a partnership between the OPD Neighborhood Watch Unit and citizens of Orlando

o NW members do NOT patrol the community, but are to observe and report to OPD. Call 911 if you have any concerns about suspicious activity.

BASIC PARTS OF A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

o Two training sessions per year: Ventura Emergency Response Team Annual Meeting – usually in June; pertinent safety and security issues such as – holiday shopper safety; securing property before vacation; preventing identity theft, etc.

o Free Home Security Survey – Community Policing Division Officer at (407) 246-2461

o Reporting Report suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1  Call the non-emergency hotline for other, less serious concerns – 321 235 5200 or 321 235 5300

o Operation Identification – Ventura has 4 Engravers available for residents to borrow. See the receptionist at the Administration Building. 

Free electric engraver provided after second training meeting 

Engrave valuables with Drivers License Number or other identifying number – do not use your Social Security number

o Crimereports.Com or crimestoppers.com are good web sites to check out
