The Sunshine Ladies
By Linda Dolan Happy fourth of July! It will be quieter than usual but that’s the way it goes. The state is slowly reopening, as is Ventura. The Sunshine Club has still not had a meeting. Hopefully that will change in the near future. Morning pool exercise has resumed and we have managed to have a couple of activities.
During our regular meetings we usually sing Happy Birthday once a month for all the members who have birthdays that month. This month, Tanny LeDue, Treasurer of the club, had her birthday. Since we couldn’t sing, Cheryl Powers and Norma Poutra organized a card party. Members and friends were asked to sign a card for Tanny and deliver them to Cheryl. Cheryl also organized a drive by for neighbors and friends. Twenty five cars met in the parking lot if the Club House and drove down her street, turned around in the cul de sac and drove by again. 29 cards were delivered. The drive was fun and it was really nice to see so many people who we haven’t seen for months.
Continuing last month’s column, a special thanks to Jorge Rodrigues, Head of Access Control, who attends our meetings to keep us aware of safety issues and answers questions from the members.
Thanks to Ken and Alice Ellis and Bob Walsh who assisted the Flea Market Committee.
If you are a new resident or a resident who doesn’t attend, please consider coming when meetings resume. We welcome new members. If you have a business or hobby consider speaking at a meeting. We are always looking for interesting speakers.
Be Safe, avoid risky situations and enjoy the slower pace of life in Ventura. We will talk again next month.
